SANIVITE
The
Sanivite is a gray water pump and is ideally suitable for use in a basement
apartment. It will pump waste water away from a variety of
sources, such as a kitchen sink, laundry sink, clothes washer (indirect via
a laundry tub only), dishwasher, bar sink, etc., etc.
The
inside of the Sanivite comprises of a pressure chamber, which starts and
stops the unit and the
motor, which drives the pump.
When
water is entering the Sanivite a microswitch in the pressure chamber is activated,
which in turn
starts the motor. The motor is sealed for life in
an oil filled enclosure. A spindle drives the impeller, the moving parts
therefore are kept to an absolute minimum. Water enters the chamber and are
pumped away
into the sanitary sewer. The pump operates at 10 PSI and pumps the waste
upwards to 12 feet and/or 150 feet horizontally. Once the water is discharged
and the
water level in the container goes down, the microswitch deactivates the
unit until water enters the unit again. A normal operating cycle for Sanivite
can be as short as 2-10 seconds depending upon the discharge pipe run configuration,
power consumption is therefore minimal.
In
addition to sinks, Sanivite will also accept and discharge the waste water
from a variety of other sanitary fixtures, such as; a hand basin, a shower,
a bath, a urinal and possibly a whirlpool. When adding a shower or bathtub,
a base will have to be constructed, made out of 2" x 6" on edge,
to allow for the installation of a P-trap and some gravity flow towards the
pump unit, as it does not suck in water.
The
waste water from other sanitary fixtures is discharged into Sanivite via
two 11⁄2-inch inlets, on either
side of the housing. Either one or both inlets can be used as required. The
discharge elbow on top of the
Sanivite
can be turned either to the left or to the right, depending on the discharge
installation. The Sanivite may be vented, there is a 11⁄2-inch connection
on the top of the unit. The discharge pipe size may be made from 1-inch material.
The
Sanivite is small enough to fit comfortably inside a kitchen cabinet or
vanity or inside the overhang of a whirlpool. Electrical supply to the Sanivite
is 120V, 15 Amp. The system should be connected to a Ground Fault Circuit
Interrupter circuit.
